I just came across a wonderful quote, this one from the indominable Oscar Wilde: "Rules are for the obedience of fools and the guidance of wise men [and women!]."
For Mr. Wilde, I'm sure this had nothing to do with photography. But for photographers like us, it can be a guiding light.
I thank Peter Evans for quoting Wilde in an excellent video I just reviewed called, "15 Elements of Photography Composition." (See link below.) I recommend this especially for beginners and mid-level photographers, but I think even the most advanced among us will find it to be at least a refreshing reminder of the visual underpinnings of our art.
And here's a bonus: In Peter's photo of a beautiful woman sitting on a curb, which he uses to illustrate many of his points, to my eye there is one minor compositional flaw. Can you find it? Do you even agree it's a flaw?
