The masking tools in Lightroom have transformed the program's ability to select and edit specific parts of a photo. However, the "Select Subject" function has been mediocre at best, and many of us have been relying on Photoshop's far superior tool to do the job when necessary.
Until now. According to one of photography's supreme gurus, Matt Kloskowski, this tool has been significantly improved in Lightroom. (See link to video about this, below.) I have yet to try it, but I encourage you--especially if you are not friendly with Photoshop--to give it a go and let me know what you think.
