Regarding the email about changes to the End-of-Year Awards...
"The name of the Shyan Award should be retired because it honors someone who no one in the club remembers."
Although I have no personal connection or opinion on the matter, I did find it disheartening that someone whose name was affixed to something such as this obviously had meaning to someone at some point and was intended to be used as a way to honor and remember them for years to come, only to be dropped because nobody does remember them.
A quick search found that this award was in memory of Ted and Rita Shyan, founding members of the CCC. It's even listed in several places on the website.
So, 30 years for their legacy to be forgotten.
Again, I have no connection to these people or their legacy other than being a member of the club they founded and my own curiosity as to their attachment to this elusive award and wanted to share my findings.

Thanks for your thoughtful comment, Kris. Yes, the Shyans founded the club 30 years ago, but since so many people have made such important contributions to the club since then, and since the club had changed--and improved--so much over the years, it seemed meaningless to hang onto their names for an honor that itself has been significantly changed. BTW, please let me know where you see them mentioned on the website.
FWIW, I also agree with Kris that while I don't know the individuals these awards are named after, it does seem a shame to erase them from the record completely. But I also agree that having an award named after someone no one recognizes doesn't make much sense, either. Perhaps we can have a section of the website, or a pinned forum topic to recognize CCC legacy members and their contributions? Founding a club that is 30 years strong with such a talented group of members is not insignificant!
