Macro Photography Workshop

Sunday, June 23, 2024 - 5:00pm to 6:30pm
Ivy Creek

When you “think small” and shoot close-up, you reveal to yourself – and others – a whole new world that often goes unnoticed and unappreciated. But the closer you shoot, the bigger the challenges and the harder it is to get the kinds of quality images you expect. In this class, you’ll learn the essential tools and techniques for shooting close!

Participants should bring cameras, tripods, and any close-up equipment they might have, such as close-up lens attachments, macro lenses, and extension tubes. If you don't have any close-up gear, you can still attend, because you'll learn what you'll need to get into this kind of photography.

You will get the most from this class if you know the basics of how to operate lens aperture, shutter speed, and ISO settings on your camera, as well as how each setting interacts with the others (often called the "exposure triangle").

This workshop will take place in the Education Building, and then outdoors, weather permitting, at Ivy Creek Natural Area and Historic Riverview Farm. Up to 10 supporters of ICNA have been invited to attend, and we're limiting CCC member attendance as well. A CCC Google Groups email announcement will be made several days before the event, and the first 10 to respond will be accepted to this session. Another macro workshop will be announced later in the year for those who miss the cut.
