September 2017 Meeting

Thursday, September 14, 2017 - 6:00pm

What we are proposing for this month’s assignment is an image that captures sound: a dog barking, a baby crying, an audience clapping, music, birds singing, babies wailing, a city waking up. Use your imagination to create an artistic image that allows the viewer to both see and “hear” the subject.

Judging our competition in September will be Matthew Schmidt, a photographer from Northern Virginia. Matthew is an amateur photographer who spends a good deal of time shooting action sports such as motorsports, lacrosse and soccer, striving to catch the decisive moment that is representative of the sport or event. He also enjoys shooting macro, flowers and still life. This fall, Matt will join distinguished mentor Joseph Miller in presenting a workshop on camera club judging. As a member of the Northern Virginia Photographic Society Matt has served on the board and in a number of leadership positions. For a look at some of his work visit his website at Matt will present a program titled Abstraction and Visual Design.
