Presentation by Russ Burden
Russ Burden, who judged for us a couple of months ago, will be presenting a talk called, "Be Your Own Best Judge." (This presentation will come to you via Zoom, and you can watch for the link in you email inbox.)
Here's how he describes it:
Be Your Own Best Judge
As a competitor in camera club competitions, you want to submit photographs you like and hope the judge likes them too. It’s most important that you feel good about the images you submit, not enter for the sake of winning a ribbon. If the goal is to simply please a judge, you will never develop your own style or individuality. “Be Your Own Best Judge” is a Keynote presentation that teaches one how to better evaluate the images they currently have in their files so they can choose the best ones to enter into competition. It also instructs audience members in great detail ways to improve one’s photography to accumulate award winners. The focus of the instructional is based on the 12 key elements that determine the success of any art piece, be it photographic, a painting, drawing, etc. All concepts are illustrated with images Russ has taken over the years.
Following the show Russ will host a question and answer period that relates to any topic presented during the presentation or answer any questions about the images included in the show.
