On May 1 there will be an opening reception for the photo exhibit, “Secrets of Montpelier,” which will feature the work of students participating in this spring’s advanced digital photography course offered through SCPS’ Personal Enrichment Program.

Montpelier, the historic home of James and Dolley Madison, joins First Fridays in downtown Charlottesville as host of this reception. Taught by veteran SCPS instructor and award-winning photographer John Hulburt, this non-credit course provides students the opportunity to take their craft to the next level through a combination of in-class instruction on Grounds and a series of fieldtrips which offers students exclusive access to special tours and lectures from Montpelier staff.

The reception will take place from 5-8pm at Old Metropolitan Hall on Charlottesville’s historic downtown mall and is free and open to the public. The exhibit will be housed at the Montpelier Visitor Center from May 8-22. Please plan to attend and help us celebrate this innovative partnership between SCPS and Montpelier.

Sincerely,

Kathryn Buzzoni, M.Ed.
