February 2020 Meeting

Thursday, February 13, 2020 - 6:00pm
Judge:
Jamie Konarski Davidson
Theme:
Black and White

By creating a black and white, or “monochrome” photo, you are bypassing color to emphasize other aspects of a subject, such as form, texture, and contrasting tones. When a potential subject speaks to you through these visual qualities, then all that remains is composing, capturing, and editing to bring out the best the subject has to offer.

Dinner with the judge, at Applebee's on Pantops, 5:00-6:00.  Everyone welcome.

Meet & Greet - 6:00-6:30.

The judge for our competition will be Jamie Konarski Davidson, from Greenville, NC.  Jamie is an award-winning freelance outdoor & nature photographer with a passion for capturing and sharing the beauty of the natural world.  Her images range from macro and abstracts to intimate, grand and rural landscapes in color and infrared.  She teaches photography classes in Greenville and leads photo workshops throughout the Southeast.  You can view galleries of her work at https://newlifephotos.photoshelter.com/portfolio.  Jamie will present a program titled "Creativity in the Gardens," that includes gardens in general as well as photography of flowers, both regular and macro.
