I took part in this course last year and enjoyed every minute of it. Mary Louise puts an incredible amount of work into each section and is very responsive to questions. I found the course to be well organised and thorough. If you’re unsure about anything, Mary Louise or Alan will walk you through it.

I was a little hesitant to sign up at first because I figured everyone would be miles ahead of me but there was quite a range of experience in the other photographers. I know every group will vary but I learned a lot from some of the other photographers, too.

Sylvan Heights is a super place to practice and is very camera (and tripod) friendly. I’ve been back a few times since taking the course and see some new opportunity each time.

I’m happy to answer any questions if anyone is thinking about signing up.

I just wrapped up my participation in this course. Mary Louise and Alan Clark are excellent instructors. There were 9 students who all brought interesting perspectives and good questions to the classes. We all started at generally the same level of bird photography capability but are now much more knowledgeable. The course covered a lot of ground from general concepts to specific camera settings by camera model. The two days at Sylvan Heights Park were great with a wonderful variety of birds and habitats.

I highly recommend any course taught by Mary Louise Ravese. She is a pro who puts a lot of thought into the material. The handouts are first class reference material that I will be using for a long time.
