Photography World Record set in Virginia

So in Floyd County Virginia they set a world record for light orbs. This was featured on DIYphotography which is a great site for photography ideas and how to on creating your own equipment.

There is a video showing how they created the effect as well as the final photo that shows the record. There are also links on the page to the photographers and their other photos, most of these are on flickr. I really think this may be interesting for quite a few in our club who may want to push some boundaries of types of photography that we have seen in the club competitions.

So are you saying we should line up 201 light painters to break their record? :) I am game!
After reading your post and the referenced article I had to go back and look at picture I took at a 2013 wedding. At the end of a long, hot, and tiring day with most of my equipment including tripod loaded up a well hydrated groomsman insisted on me taking a shot of him light painting the bride and groom's initials. I rested the camera against something and got the shot shown below on the third try. It is not great but I do like the lens flare. He just used his cell phone for a light source.

Very neat Gene. I have seen this done a bit recently with weddings. usually just sparklers in a swirling pattern around the bride and groom. Although we did have some friends married on the 4th of july so they had photos of them with fireworks in the background.

I do like the little starbursts. Almost equivalent to when someone is writing with a pen and they leave darker spots on some of the pressure points of each letter.

And we wouldn't need 201 light painters only would need to do 201 orbs. I think they used about 10 people to create their image with all the orbs. Interestingly they doubled the previous record but used 5 times the amount of workforce.
